Rainoil Limited has said that there was no incident of gas leakage at their gas Depot at Ijegun-Egbe in Lagos.
This is contrary to the reports making rounds that the company was trying to contain any fire incident that may occur as a result of the said leakage in the early hours of yesterday.
Rainoil said in a statement that there was no gas leakage at their Depot but rather they were carrying out a routine safety drills for their staff at the Depot which may have been mistaken to be as a result of gas leakage.
“We carried out a routine fire safety drill to ensure preparedness of staff in the event of an emergency. This routine safety drill was mistaken to be as a result of gas leak at the Depot.
“A representative from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) was on site to witness the entire process” the Management said.
The company called on the community and other stakeholders to disregard any report of gas leakage at the Depot. “We call on the community and other stakeholders to dispel the gas leakage rumour as the Depot has since resumed operations following the fire safety drills” they said.
Rainoil said it will continue to ensure that all safety measures are in place in all the company’s operations. “We are safety conscious and remain committed to the safety of our community and the environment” the company said.
