There are strong indications that oil Marketers who had received supplies of the Adulterated Premium Motor Spirit otherwise known as Petrol may demand for compensation as they have lost so much as a result of the disruption of their businesses and damage to their various marketing brands.
The Marketers are also worried that some motorists may seek compensation by way of litigations. “The last time we were involved in the sale of Adulterated petrol we paid compensation as some motorists had wanted to take the matter to court” a Marketer who wants to remain anonymous said.
To prevent future occurrence, Marketers are demanding that the government should allow every Marketer to import their own products. They frown over the situation where the government will have an agency that regulate the industry and at the same time another government agency being a player in the industry.
According to them the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) should not be a sole importer of Petroleum products either through its subsidiary or through Direct supply and Direct Purchase agreemen (DSDPA).
