In a remarkable effort to improve access to clean and safe water, Asharami Synergy, in collaboration with the Sahara Group Foundation, has launched a solar-powered borehole system in the Omagwa community of Rivers State. This initiative aims to provide a sustainable water solution to the community, addressing a critical need for clean water in the area.
The new borehole, powered by 1,200 watts of solar energy and equipped with a 1.5-horsepower DC water pump, represents an innovative approach to water access. The system is designed to ensure 24/7 availability of clean water, which will significantly enhance health, hygiene, and overall well-being in the community. The solar-powered solution not only provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional water supply methods but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, which focuses on ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Nomnso Dike, CEO of Asharami Synergy, emphasized the importance of the project in fostering lasting community relations. “This initiative is more than a water project; it reflects our commitment to making a tangible impact in the communities we serve and our dedication to responsible energy solutions. It also celebrates the collaborative relationship between Omagwa, which we proudly call our home, and Asharami Synergy,” Dike stated during the commissioning ceremony.
The borehole project follows the recent opening of the Asharami Retail Station in Omagwa, further solidifying the company’s long-term commitment to the community. Henry Nnadi, Depot Manager at Omagwa, highlighted the significance of the initiative. “Access to potable water is critical, and Asharami Synergy is delighted at the opportunity to serve the community through this sustainable initiative, which was delivered following close consultations with the community,” Nnadi noted.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by local residents and community leaders, including Comrade Benneth Maduike, President of the Omagwa Airport Landlord Association. Maduike expressed his gratitude for the project, emphasizing its transformative impact on the community’s daily life.
“The provision of clean water through this project is a game-changer for us. It will improve the health and living conditions of everyone in this community,” Maduike remarked.
This initiative aligns with Asharami Synergy’s corporate philosophy of “Making a Difference Responsibly,” which prioritizes sustainable development and responsible corporate social impact. As a leader in the downstream energy sector, Asharami Synergy is steadfast in its mission to leave a legacy of positive change and contribute to the achievement of global sustainability goals.
Through this solar-powered borehole, Asharami Synergy is not only providing a critical resource but is also demonstrating its commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices. The project is a testament to the company’s dedication to creating lasting, meaningful change in the communities it serves.
