Saipem’s Head of LNG Technology, Sergio Armenante has said that Africa is a prominent Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) market, noting that the company has a consistent track record of EPC projects executed in various African countries as well as participating in almost all the continent’s LNG project developments over the last 10 years.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Energy Republic, Armenante said that Saipem is very active in Africa and has successfully delivered various LNG projects including the Sonatrach GNL-3Z LNG project, a 4.7 MTPA liquefaction plant located in Arzew industrial, Algeria.
He stated that Saipem was also involved in NLNG’s Train 1 to 6 LNG project in Bonny Island in Nigeria, and is currently a joint venture (JV) partner for the Train 7 Project with an overall capacity of 8.3 MTPA which is still under construction.
In Southern Africa, he said Saipem designed and built two LNG Storage Tanks of 160,000 m3 for Angola’s Soyo LNG project in 2010, and was involved in TotalEnergies Mozambique LNG project, a 13 MTPA liquefaction plant in Capo Delgado, currently under suspension due to security reason.
“Therefore, Africa has been a very prominent market for us, and we have always worked hard to help our clients develop their projects.
“Additionally, we are pursuing several other initiatives in the continent which are not yet in an execution phase but will be developed over the next few years,” he added.
