The Nigerian Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) is set to host its flagship annual conference on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event, which begins at 9 a.m., will bring together key players in Nigeria’s energy sector to deliberate on critical developments in the oil, gas, power, and renewable energy industries.
The theme of the 2024 NAEC Conference, “Gas as Energy Transition Fuel: Navigating Nigeria’s Trilemma of Finance, Energy Security, and International Politics,” underscores the growing importance of natural gas in ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable, and affordable energy future for Nigeria.
Prominent figures expected to address the conference include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu. Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), will deliver the industry keynote address.
The event will also feature addresses from regulators, including the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Engr Gbenga Komolafe; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr Felix Ogbe; and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr Farouk Ahmed.
Dr Gabriel Ogbechie, Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited, will chair the conference, which is set to include special presentations by top industry executives such as Mr. Ed Ubong, Coordinator of the Decade of Gas Secretariat; Devakumar Edwin, Vice President, Oil & Gas, Dangote Industries; Dr Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director, Nigeria LNG Limited; and Mr. Robert Dickerman, CEO of Pinnacle Oil & Gas.
According to NAEC National Chairman, Mr. Ugo Amadi, the conference will focus on addressing Nigeria’s most pressing energy challenges. “The theme, ‘Gas as Energy Transition Fuel,’ was carefully chosen to explore solutions for Nigeria’s energy security and sustainable future,” Amadi said.
Key panel discussions will focus on the role of gas in powering Nigeria’s energy sufficiency and economic prosperity, as well as investment opportunities in the downstream oil and gas sector and the power industry.
Chairman of the NAEC 2024 Conference Committee, Mr. Adeola Yusuf, emphasized that the event promises to be a game-changer for the Nigerian energy sector, offering actionable insights and innovative strategies to unlock investments and drive sustainable development.
