The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance (REEEA-A) is set to host its 3rd Annual International Conference on September 25-26, 2024, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The conference, themed “Road to Net Zero – Actionable Initiatives for Success,” is a timely response to Nigeria’s growing energy demands and the urgent need to combat climate challenges.
Bringing together policymakers, industry experts, academics, and other energy stakeholders, the event aims to foster collaboration and develop actionable strategies to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy. With the country facing rising energy demands and the imperative of reducing carbon emissions, the conference seeks to provide solutions that align with Nigeria’s strategic energy transition goals.
Prof. Magnus Onuoha, President of REEEA-A, underscored the conference’s key objective: “This event aims not just to share knowledge, but to catalyze actionable commitments that can transform our energy landscape. We envision a Nigeria where sustainable energy is accessible to all, driven by the collaboration of diverse stakeholders.”
The Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Lande Abudu, highlighted the importance of inclusivity in the energy transition, saying, “The conference will also highlight the vital roles of journalists, youth, and women. Their insights and participation are essential for crafting a holistic approach to ensure that our initiatives resonate across different segments of society.”
A keynote address will be delivered by the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, focusing on national policies to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. Panel discussions will explore practical strategies for integrating these policies into Nigeria’s energy framework, addressing challenges and seizing new opportunities.
Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of REEEA-A, also emphasized the need for inclusivity: “Engaging youth and women, who are often the most affected by energy challenges, is crucial. Their voices will help shape a comprehensive energy strategy that is equitable and effective.”
Attendees can look forward to workshops, networking opportunities, and interactive discussions aimed at converting insights into practical initiatives. The conference is expected to empower participants with the tools needed to contribute to Nigeria’s journey toward a sustainable and collaborative energy future.
