Oil Firm Sues Petroleum Ministry, DPR Over Cancellation of Permit

A Lagos-based oil company, NOV Oil and Gas Limited has dragged the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, before National Industrial Court over the cancellation of its operating license.

The company in suit marked as NICN/LA/330/2021 is also suing the defendants for alleged arbitrary and unilateral imposition of fine and undue interference in its internal affairs.

NOV in the suit claimed that it has not breached, violated, or infracted any terms or conditions of the Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit guidelines, regulations, requirements, or anything whatsoever to warrant cancellation of its permit.

Besides the suit, the company also filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction to restrain the DPR from taking any punitive measures against it during the pendency of the suit.

The company insists that it did not breached, violated, or infracted any terms or conditions of the Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit guidelines, regulations or requirements.
